Panama City is the capitol of the Republic of Panama. This city with it’s skyline of highrise buildingsis surrounded by a belt of tropical rainforest and is the entrance to the Panama Canal on the Pacific Ocean side. Your tour will take you to the seaport of Colon, the Embera Indian Village, the Gatun Locks and Panama City. Heading to the town of Gamboa for an aerial tram ride through Gamboa Rainforest Resort where you will have spectacular views over the Chagris River and the canal. The town was originally built to house employees of the Panama Canal and their dependents.

DAY 1
PANAMA CITY
Reception at the airport and transfer to hotel with an English speaking guide.
Overnight in a selected hotel.

DAY 2
PANAMA CITY - CITY TOUR
After breakfast you will do a Panama City Tour. You will visit some of the most important sites of Panama City starting with the ruins of OLD Panama, capital of “Castilla de Oro” and center of operations for the conquest of South America. You will then visit the Casco Viejo, a colonial area that represents the second Panama City, characterized by a very special architecture. There will be a stop at "Plaza de la Independencia" with its Cathedral and the "Palacio Municipal", before you head up the "Paseo de las Bovedas" into the "Plaza de Francia". The tour finish at the Plaza Bolivar, home to the national theater, San Fransisco of Asis Church and some newly remodeled homes.

DAY 3
PANAMA CITY - COLON - EMBERA - PANAMA CITY
You will start the day with breakfast at the hotel before you will go on a train ride to Cólon, and from there you will continue to the Gatun Locks for a tour of the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal. Then the tour continues to the historic town of Portobelo. In this town there are around 3,000 inhabitants whom most of them live of fishing, cocnut and tourism. The guide will here show you the outstanding features of the most important historical sites, including the Church of the Black Christ where you will learn its interesting legend. You will end the day with a visit the Embera community. Immerse yourself in the unique native traditions of a remote Embera Indian village, deep in the heart of the rainforest. When you arrive at the village, surrounded by lush forest, you will be greeted by the traditional music of this fascinating culture. Here you will enjoy a lunch and learn more about the customary lifestyle of a people virtually unchanged by civilization and the local shaman will describe some of the medicinal plants and herbs found in this environment, many of which are still a vital part of everyday life. Transfer back to Panama City and overnight in selected hotel.

DAY 4
PANAMA CITY - ANTON VALLEY - PANAMA CITY
After breakfast you will do a tour to Anton Valley, which is a two hours ride from Panama City. It is a popular destination for city people and tourists due to its proximity to the city of Panama. El Valle is located within the crater of the second largest inhabited dormant volcano in the world. The crater stands at about 600m above sea level while all around are mountains for the hiker to explore. Here you can feel a cooler climate, which is a pleasant change from the heat and humidity of the city and on warm days, there are always refreshing breezes that rush down the slopes of the surrounding hills. In this tour you will see El Chorro Macho, which is a lovely 35m waterfall from the Quebrada Amarilla River. It is located within the boundaries of an ecological refuge with walking trails to the top of the falls. Endemic trees are labeled and if you are lucky, you may see the stunning blue morpho butterflies. This Valley is also known for its square trees, golden frogs, and Sunday morning market. In the afternoon you will return to the selected hotel in Panama City.


DAY 5

PANAMA CITY - GAMBOA - PANAMA CITY
This last day you will visit Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Here you will take the aerial tram, which is located in 100 hectares of rain forest. It is the only place in the world where visitors will soar above canopy and see the most complex ecological communities of life on Earth. The tram takes you from the shadowy rainforest floor through the under story, and into the sundrenched canopy. The fascinating aerial excursion will allow you to experience life as it occurs in nature's most exotic canopies, providing you with a unique "bird´s eye view" of some of the most spectacular vegetation in the world. From the observation tower you will get great views of the Canal, the Chagres River as well as the surrounding forested areas of Soberania National Park and the town of Gamboa. There are also a numerous exhibitions which you can enjoy in the resort, such as the Serpentarium, the Orchid Gardens, the Butterfly House and a model of the Embera Village.

DAY 6
PANAMA CITY
Breakfast at hotel.
Transfers to the airport.
