Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city and former capitol of Brazil. It is also the most visited city in the southern hemisphere, best known for its carnival celebrations, samba dancers, Corcovado Mountain and the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer. The resort town of Buzios boasts no less than twenty beautiful beaches. The diverse coastline, once popular amongst pirates and slave traders offers tourists a choice of beaches ranging from calm clear waters for bathing to waves ideal for surfing. At night the town comes alive with nightclubs and restaurants. Enjoy the best of both worlds on this tour.

Day 1: Arrival in Brazil
Rio de Janeiro
Upon arrival in Brazil you'll be welcomed at Rio de Janeiro's international airport and shown to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure, either relaxing at your hotel or getting to know the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and the restaurants and boutiques in the nearby boulevards. Sunset in Rio de Janeiro is spectacular and Ipanema Beach offers the best views.
We suggest you head there and watch the show over a chilled beer or a fresh coconut milk. This evening you can dine in one of Rio's many excellent restaurants,

Day 2: Christ the Redeemer City Views

This morning your tour will begin with a drive through Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world. Driving through the trees you'll reach the peak of Corcovado Mountain, home to the iconic statue of 'Christ the Redeemer'. High above the city Corcovado offers spectacular views of Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf, the beaches and the ocean.
You'll then return to your hotel and have the afternoon free to enjoy the beaches and the sunset at your leisure. Premium Service includes an evening experiencing the lively nightlife of Rio's vibrant district of Lapa. Home to some of the city's best live music venues, with bands playing Brazil's classic musical styles, such as Samba, Pagode and Bossa Nova, an evening out in Lapa is a real cultural experience.

Day 3: Historical center and Sugarloaf

Today's tour of Rio takes you to the historic city center in the morning, passing the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Candelaria Church, as well as many more of the city's important buildings. You will then be taken to the base of Sugarloaf Mountain from where you'll ride the famous cable car to the top. This amazing feat of engineering was the first cable car in Brazil, and only the third in the entire world.
Taking passengers way up to the top of Sugarloaf, 300m above the sea, the views over Guanabara Bay, Copacabana Beach and up to Corcovado are about as spectacular as you can get. The afternoon and evening are free for you to enjoy the beaches, boutiques, bars and restaurants at your leisure.

Day 4: Along the coast to Buzios

After being picked up from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro you'll be driven along the coast to Buzios, Brazil's most glamorous beach resort area. Buzios is actually made up of three small settlements, which have expanded over the years to become one town. Ossos was an old fishing village, and today its winding cobblestone streets are home to many of the town's shops and boutiques.
Orla Bardot and Porto da Barras both have a great range of top-class restaurants and bars and are perfect evening destinations. After arriving at your hotel, the afternoon and evening are free for you to relax and explore the town, perhaps visiting some of its many beaches.

Day 5: Beach life in Buzios

Today is free for you to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading to the beach. Buzios peninsula has twenty-five beaches to explore either on foot, by bike, on horseback or by boat. Trips from the harbor take you out to visit the more secluded beaches of the bay and to the offshore tropical islands.
There are also options for scuba diving around the Cabo Frio peninsula, one of the best dive sites in this region of Brazil. The dunes and the lighthouse also make for an interesting day trip from Buzios. In the evening we suggest you dine at one of the excellent seafood restaurants in town just ask your Brazil travel specialist for details.

Day 6: Buzios Bay by boat

Today you head down to the harbor and take a day's boat trip. A schooner tour takes you out into the sparkling Buzios bay to visit tiny tropical islands with secluded stretches of golden sand. You will also get to see parts of the peninsula accessible only by foot or from the water. Stops for swimming and snorkeling along the way give you the chance to dive into the fresh Atlantic waters and view some of the tropical fish and other marine life that lives there. Drinks and food are available to buy on board, and finishing the trip with a caipirinha as the sun begins to set over Buzios Bay is highly recommended.
The evening is free for you to dine in one of Buzios' many fine restaurants.

Day 7: Leaving Brazil

With most international flights leaving Rio de Janeiro in the evening you may have the morning free to enjoy Buzios before being picked up for your transfer to the airport in Rio and your flight home.
