Tortuguero, or ‘Land of the Turtles’ is a remote village on the north Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica. There are no roads to get there, making it accessible by boat or plane only and is sustained almost entirely by eco-tourism. Mawamba Lodge, whose front yard is Tortuguero canals and its backyard the Caribbean Ocean, blends with the surrounding natural richness of Tortuguero. This tropical sanctuary has it’s own on-site “Mawamba Park” with two butterfly, frog and iguana gardens; complimentary for its guests.
